Use the same team roles as yesterday. See the board for your role. Be sure to use your SCRIPTS!
Role of the day: GateKeeper, be sure each person in your team shares their answer. If anyone has a different answer, discuss until everyone agrees!
1. Homework Check
Take out your homework 1.2.1 from last night. While your teacher comes around to check your homework, discuss the three definitions below with your team. Make sure everyone in your team knows the difference between Theoretical and Experimental Probability.
- Probability: The chances that something will probably happen. We like to quantify our chances by giving it a number like 10% green fish, or 1 green fish out of ten fish total.
- Theoretical Probability: This is what we expect will happen. We use math to calculate Theoretical Probability. We know there is one green fish in a pond with ten fish total. If we pull a fish out of a pond 10 times we expect to get a green fish one out of those ten times.
- Experimental Probability: This is what actually happens. Sometimes what happens matches the Theoretical Probability. Sometimes it doesn't. Discuss with your team why this might happen.
Homework questions, please put them on the board in the homework help section. If you know the answer, please go to the board and write your ideas. Thanks!
